Life poses many risks and hazards. A crack in the pavement waiting to snatch at your heal for instance, or a speed bump waiting to spill your morning coffee, or running out of coffee! Now that you wear a wig you will need to take care of some of the little things in life that may be a mishap waiting to happen. For your benefit and the benefit of your wig it is advisable to know some of the hazards that may lie ahead so you can prevent any damage from occurring and keep your wig with you for as long as you wish to have it.

*
Your jewellery can get knotted up with the hair on your wig. It certainly would spoil a nice occasion if your earrings got tangled into the strands of wig hair. If your wig hairs are already a bit knotted and if you are donning a long cut, the risk of your wig latching onto jewellery will be increased. Be careful, even if you’re running late you won’t want to accidentally pull your necklace into your wig cap. Now that you wear a wig be sure to dress and undress in a well-lit room and use a mirror to not make any mistakes.
*     Hoodies and jackets
Sometimes the hood part of a hoodie gets pulled into the neck. If you already find that frustrating, imagine the same hoodie pulling off your wig because you were in a rush when you took it off. Remove your hoodie carefully by firmly stretching the 'collar' while pulling it carefully over your head.
 *
With exposure to strong sunlight, wigs can lose their vibrant colours. Sweat also causes discolouration. On sunny days a spray-on, leave-in conditioner is your wig's best protection. Also be sure to wash your wig after every 4-5 uses.
*     Sand and sea
Many people prefer to keep their full lace human hair wigs on at the beach, and even in the water. Warning. Sand gets in everything, it will creep its way into crevices and onto the glue holding your wig’s hairs together. Be sure to wash thoroughly after every trip to the beach. Rinse your wig with freshwater immediately if it has been exposed salts from salt water!
*     The wrong care products
Using a blow dryer is one of the biggest no-no’s in the wig world. The hot air will loosen the glue holding the wig hairs in place. A regular hair comb can pull out your wig’s hair leaving you with a bald cap. Laying your wig down just anywhere to dry can leave you with a knotted nightmare you’ll be sure to regret.
*     Washing the wrong way
While you’ll find that the way you washed your hair is much the same as the way you wash your wig, there are some minor differences. Procedure is everything when it comes to washing. Brush your wig before you wash to tackle any difficult tangles. Hold your wig upside-down under the tap and you'll be welcoming back those knots. Never wash a wig in hot water or you’ll have a sink or basin filled with Cousin Itt from the Adams Family.
